Happy December , Everyone ! It is time to be home for the holidays ! I can still recall the wonderful memories of spending Thanksgiving with my host family in Baton Rouge , Louisiana , followed by a Christmas winter vacation with my Italian foster family in Poplar Bluff , Missouri , which I was so looking forward to each year during my college years . I love eating turkey , especially with oysters and French bread stuffing , my Southern Belle mom , Elenora ’ s specialty . The hefty Thanksgiving meal did wonders , holding me over for the next 30 days before I devoured another massive Christmas feast that awaited me at my Italian foster family ’ s home . Besides all the delectable , delicious foods , the holidays also remind me of the “ Human Experience .”

Some of us have already realized this , and others will experience it for the first time : The “ Kitchen ,” the heart and soul of every home , will be the most important room in everyone ’ s home in the coming weeks . It will take center stage by serving as the hub for the transformational loving energy that will bind families and friends alike during this holiday season .

My late Southern Belle mom , Eleanora , once eloquently described to me that being in the kitchen is like being a mother ; “ it is about creating something special . It requires patience , a happy attitude , and a touch of love . It is the perfect blending of all these ingredients that ultimately produces a signature dish .”

As you already know , you do not have to know how to cook to be drawn into the kitchen , as your five senses will eventually pull you toward it once the mouth-watering aromas start to fill the air . You will always find an abundance of joy and laughter from family and friends ' conversations , reminiscing and sharing meaningful real-life stories , from knowledge gained to lessons learned .

Since we are currently living in times where families can only get together during special occasions , the holiday season has become more significant than ever . Although many people are blessed to have a family to spend the holidays with , some are less fortunate due to various circumstances . Over the years , we are the ones who found a home from within our hearts . Then , there are those among us who are lucky to experience the family holiday spirit thanks to the generosity of our friends . Regardless of your situation this year , please take a moment to be mindful so that we can all experience and enjoy the true holiday spirit as it is meant to be .

For mothers — They cannot wait to have the family break bread together over a meal to celebrate love and legacy .

For children — Your mom will always be more excited to see you than you are to see her . Savor the unconditional love and be in the moment .
