June is also the month when we honor and celebrate our fathers’ contributions to our life’ s journey. Often, during the Q & A segment after my keynote or workshop presentations, at least one person asks me about the impact of my father’ s presence in my life. I am always delighted to answer that question because, although the time spent with my father was far less than with my mom, it was quality time.
Celebrating Father’ s Day always reminds me of my beloved father, Baba. He was instrumental in helping me expand my bubble of quiet confidence by unconditionally supporting my decision to travel halfway around the world to continue my college education at Louisiana State University in the U. S. after I graduated from high school. Although his passing a year later, while I was finishing my first year of college at LSU, changed the trajectory of my life forever, I am extremely grateful for the time we spent together each day while growing up in Melaka, Malaysia. Inadvertently, I inherited two of Baba’ s most treasured attributes- his unshakable work ethic and his passion for living with authentic integrity.
I am always humbled by memories of how Baba lived his life, completely dedicated to our family ' s well-being and to my sister ' s and my future success. Baba was not a man of many words but rather a man of action. Although my sister and I had plenty of quality time with our mom, Nyah, the rare one-on-one moments we had with Baba, apart from our daily family lunch and dinner, were truly special. Those quality times with him gave us an inside view of the man he was: a spiritual human being who believed that family always comes first and that each of us has the capacity to make a positive impact on someone’ s life by contributing to their happiness and joy!

Baba always reminded me that everything happens in Divine timing and that there are no coincidences in life. Raised as a Taoist, he lived by the Buddha’ s teachings. He also occasionally attended church when he felt called, especially on Easter Sunday. I did not learn this about him until my mom shared this private story with me in 2008, after I embraced Catholicism, received my first communion, and became a Eucharistic Minister. As the saying goes, like father, like son. I am like my father; I am a spiritual man, driven and guided by Divine Energy to contribute to humanity ' s well-being.
As this month also marks the start of the summer season in the Northern Hemisphere, please do not let current global challenges distract you from your journey toward happiness and possibilities. Instead, let them be the motivational background noise that inspires you to dream, achieve, become, and expand. Always remind yourself,“ I Matter and My Personal Success Begins at Home, Within Me!”
Celebrate your achievements and let them serve as the foundation for future accomplishments on the horizon in the coming days, weeks, and months. Smile and let the beautiful energy of happiness guide you through your world of endless possibilities!
