“ And The Good News Is …” always brought a smile to my face and a sudden sense of peace in my heart, mind, body, and spirit after I had ranted for 30 to 40 minutes, sharing my life’ s misses and disappointments. She taught me the enchanting beauty of mindfulness: Faith Comforts, Hope Inspires, and Love Empowers! With Faith, I could look back on the past constructively and draw the confidence I needed to create Hope, which Lovingly shapes my future plans.
Over the years, I have also learned from my 9 Moms that two distinct yet equal forces govern our decision-making, whether personal or professional: Love or Fear! Both are essential to making informed decisions. However, too much of either creates an imbalance. With Mindfulness, we can find beauty within ourselves, others, and our world by applying the right mindset to achieve a balanced approach to every situation.
The question is how? Here is what my Sanguine Savannah mom, Toni, taught me: We all live two lives, an outer life and an inner life. The outer life is our public life, visible to everyone. It comprises social interactions, whereas our inner life includes our thoughts, attitudes, and motives.
From a designer’ s perspective, we have a facade that represents our outer life and hides our inner beauty! Only we know what is going on inside our inner life. We often pretend or act one way while thinking something different inside. Our hearts and actions don ' t always line up. Whether these actions mask our insecurities or hide our sinister motives, we can fool people sometimes, but not all the time.
When our inner self, our authentic integrity and beautiful self, is allowed to express itself radiantly, it fosters true connections in our personal friendships and professional relationships by nurturing them with openness and honesty. The essence of Mindfulness is the realization that we are seen from the inside out. If we find peace and comfort in what we say and do, in our actions and behavior, then we have acted selflessly for ourselves and, most importantly, for the greater good of others. This is the enchanting beauty of Mindfulness and karma at their best!
Autumn is nature’ s calendar, helping us pause to reflect on ourselves without losing our stride on our journey toward personal excellence. This enchanting season reminds us that“ We are not the product of our environment, but rather our environment is the product of who we are!”
I would like to share with you the Six Cornerstones of the Enchanting Beauty of Mindfulness I learned from my 9 Moms. These cornerstones help me turn Knowledge into Wisdom whenever I view people, events, and situations through the Genius Zone Mindfulness lens. This approach has led me
“ We are not the product of our environment, but rather our environment is the product of who we are!”
to treasure the people and circumstances that have contributed to my happiness and success, and to let go of the rest, so I can experience present-moment Peace, Grace, Happiness, and Joy every day of my life!
• Wisdom is knowing others; Enlightenment is knowing ourselves.
• Love fosters selflessness, whereas Fear breeds anger.
• All contentious situations should always end with peace rather than anger.
• Respect arises from showing Grace, not from asserting Power.
• Success is about knowing who we are, not about knowing our competition.
• Delay is not denial; it is an opportunity to refine.
Please enjoy the inspiring mindfulness journeys our expert contributors share in this edition. I hope the insights and wisdom from their stories will empower you on your mindfulness journey this season.
