company for a remarkable growth trajectory, opening two to three restaurants annually.
One of the most memorable moments in my speech came when I used the analogy,“ As Mother Nature would have it, even the trees knew seasonally, once a year, for lack of a better term, to shake their dead, wilted leaves off themselves as they reset for the upcoming season.” Because of the detailed, strategic, and impactful insights I shared, I was known at the end of the presentation and throughout the rest of the meeting week as“ Johnny Shake The Tree Tan.” It was a funny yet thoughtful compliment from attendees, including C-suite executives and upper-level management, who were thankful for the inspiring and empowering seasonal analogy I used to remind them to reflect, celebrate, and reset as they plan for the upcoming year and navigate their company’ s operational journey.
When it comes to our family, loved ones, and ourselves, regardless of our age or where we are in our life’ s journey, Fall is a wonderful season of self-reflection, celebration, and personal reset. The timing is perfect for all of us to take a quick but thorough look at the hits and misses we have encountered over the last several months. All this information is“ A Rear View Vision of the Opportunities and Possibilities Ahead,” which will help us position ourselves to experience happiness in the coming days, weeks, and months!
As we are all enrolled in the University of Life, the education we have received and continue to receive is a lifelong journey. My German mom, Dianne, with her many motherly words of wisdom, also taught me to embrace the idea that we can always learn something new when we position ourselves to attract Success and Joy. Committing to continuous learning gives us a competitive edge in all areas of our lives. This forward-thinking mindset inspires and motivates us to invest in our personal development at all times.
Although things may not work out as planned when the timing is off, knowing we have done our best, we should release them to the universe to be sorted out. Regrouping, refocusing, and relaunching are not as difficult as one might think. Some of us are naturally proactive, while others may need a little encouragement and guidance. However, the mindfulness practice of self-reflection, celebration, and reset will allow us to embrace even the most difficult challenges as blessings in disguise. They give us opportunities to go within and find our innate strength and light. When we are no longer afraid to change our minds, admitting mistakes rather than standing firm on an ill-informed decision, we show maturity and intelligence, which ushers in creativity. We are now primed to engage with the present moment and design the future we envision.
As we remind ourselves that the past doesn’ t define us, we allow it to be part of our beautiful future as we reset. Taking a leap of faith is the next step to empower ourselves to change how we see things. We are now changing our situation as we embrace our inner selves, realizing that our inner power is greater than the power outside. When positive changes come from the inside out, we live and perform in our Genius Zone, which makes us feel confident and self-assured as we expand our bubble of quiet confidence!
When it comes to summarizing my season of reflection, celebration, and reset for this Fall, two celebrated highlights more than offset the misses I experienced over the last several months. First, my special edition From My Mama’ s Kitchen- My 9 MOMS ~“ Conversations about Life, Love, and Laughter” won the Book Excellence Award in the parenting category in May. Second, the book and my picture were displayed on a giant Times Square billboard in New York City on August 15th, honoring my 9 Moms and all moms everywhere. The overwhelming positive energy from these events inspired me to create a very special presentation titled From My Mama’ s Kitchen ® Presents:“ Kitchen Table Hangout- Conversations about Life, Love, and Laughter” to honor all moms for their contributions to making the upcoming holidays a truly lovely experience for everyone!
